Who each is for
RingCentral is for businesses that want a full team phone system and want to keep their existing number. RingEX starts at $20 a user a month paid yearly, with 330+ integrations, and its AI Receptionist (AIR) costs $39 a month as an add-on or $49 standalone, with 100 minutes included and $0.50 a minute after that. It can book through calendar integrations or SMS links and send SMS follow-ups.
2Line.AI is for owners who want the number and the receptionist in one app on their own phone, without per-user pricing. Mia answers in your business name, books appointments inside your hours, sends a “what happens next” text and leaves a slip. Reminders with C/R replies, review requests, quotes and On my way texts are in the same app, and bookings sync to your iPhone Calendar.
What a typical day looks like with each
With RingCentral
A dental office with five staff runs RingEX across the team. When the front desk is busy, the AI Receptionist answers, books through the office’s calendar integration and sends an SMS follow-up. The office keeps the number it has had for years, and AIR’s 100 included minutes cover a set amount of answering each month before per-minute pricing starts.
With 2Line.AI
A mobile dog groomer on 2Line.AI works out of a van. Mia answers while the clippers are running, asks the breed and the address, and books a time inside your hours. The booking shows on your iPhone Calendar, the customer gets a reminder they can answer with C or R, and on the morning of the visit you tap On my way so they know when to expect you.
Choose 2Line.AI if
- You want a second number and AI receptionist in one app on your own phone
- You want reminders, review requests and On my way texts after the call
RingCentral may fit better if
- You want to keep your current number
- You need a full team phone system with integrations
- You want 100 AI minutes for a fixed $39–$49 a month
Switching from RingCentral to 2Line.AI
- Pick a new local number in 2Line.AI from the area codes near you. Porting isn’t supported, so this is a new number, not your RingCentral number moved over.
- Set your business name, hours and caller ID name (up to 15 characters). Teach Mia from your business name or website, then call the new number from another phone to test her.
- Keep RingCentral running while you switch, so anyone who still has the old number reaches you. A month or two of overlap is a sensible minimum.
- Tell your customers. Text your regulars from the new number, and change the old number’s voicemail greeting to give the new one.
- Update your Google Business Profile (Edit profile, then Contact, then Phone number), then your website, Apple Maps, Yelp, Facebook, cards and truck.
- When calls to the old number have slowed to a trickle, cancel RingCentral.
RingCentral lets you keep your number; 2Line.AI doesn’t. If your current number is printed everywhere, plan a longer overlap and update your listings first. Step-by-step help for Google is in our guide to changing your Google Business Profile phone number.
What 2Line.AI doesn’t do
Worth knowing before you choose:
- No number porting. You get a new local US number; you can’t move an existing number in.
- No CRM, Google Calendar or Zapier integrations. Bookings sync to your iPhone Calendar, and leads and slips live in the app.
- No shared team inbox or per-user seats. Each account has one owner, with as many lines as you need.
- No international numbers or calling. Numbers are US only, for calling and texting US numbers.
- Calls, texts and Mia aren’t bundled into the plan; they use credits. At zero credits they pause until you add more, and your number stays yours.
