2Line.AI vs Line2

2Line.AI or Line2?

Line2 is a second phone number app with one plan, $9.99 a month or $7.99 a month billed yearly, with talk and text across the US and Canada and voicemail transcripts. 2Line.AI costs more and bills calls in credits, and adds Mia, an AI receptionist who answers when you can’t and books appointments.

Who each is for

Line2 is for people who answer their own calls and want a low flat price. One plan, $9.99 a month or $7.99 a month billed yearly, includes talk and text across the US and Canada, with voicemail transcripts and call blocking. If you talk and text a lot and rarely miss a call, a flat plan like that is hard to beat on price.

2Line.AI is for owners whose problem is the calls they miss. It costs more and charges calls and texts in credits, but Mia answers in your business name when you can’t, books appointments inside your hours and leaves a slip. Missed-call texts, reminders with C/R replies, review requests and On my way texts are part of the same app.

What a typical day looks like with each

With Line2

You’re an HVAC tech on a no-heat call in January, and your phone rings four times in an hour. On a flat second-number plan, talk and text are included, so calling everyone back costs nothing extra. But while you’re in the crawlspace, every call goes unanswered and the voicemail transcripts pile up. You start calling back at 5 p.m.

With 2Line.AI

On 2Line.AI, Mia answers all four. She asks whether the system is running at all and gets the address. One caller has no heat and a baby at home, so Mia hands that call straight to you. The other three are booked into open times inside your hours, and each caller gets a confirmation text. You climb out to slips, not a list of strangers to call back.

Choose 2Line.AI if

  • You want calls answered and booked when you’re on a job
  • You want reminders, review requests and missed-call texts sent for you

Line2 may fit better if

  • You answer every call yourself and want the lowest flat price
  • You call and text a lot in the US and Canada

Switching from Line2 to 2Line.AI

  1. Pick a new local number in 2Line.AI from the area codes near you. Porting isn’t supported, so this is a new number, not your Line2 number moved over.
  2. Set your business name, hours and caller ID name (up to 15 characters). Teach Mia from your business name or website, then call the new number from another phone to test her.
  3. Keep Line2 running while you switch, so anyone who still has the old number reaches you. A month or two of overlap is a sensible minimum.
  4. Tell your customers. Text your regulars from the new number, and change the old number’s voicemail greeting to give the new one.
  5. Update your Google Business Profile (Edit profile, then Contact, then Phone number), then your website, Apple Maps, Yelp, Facebook, cards and truck.
  6. When calls to the old number have slowed to a trickle, cancel Line2.

Line2’s Canada calling doesn’t carry over. 2Line.AI calls and texts US numbers only, so keep another option if you call Canada often. Step-by-step help for Google is in our guide to changing your Google Business Profile phone number.

What 2Line.AI doesn’t do

Worth knowing before you choose:

  • No number porting. You get a new local US number; you can’t move an existing number in.
  • No international numbers or calling. Numbers are US only, for calling and texting US numbers.
  • Calls, texts and Mia aren’t bundled into the plan; they use credits. At zero credits they pause until you add more, and your number stays yours.
  • No shared team inbox or per-user seats. Each account has one owner, with as many lines as you need.
  • No 911 calls. Keep your regular phone for emergencies.
