2Line.AI vs Burner

2Line.AI or Burner?

Burner is a private second-number app with numbers you can delete and switch, auto-reply and spam blocking, from $7.99 a month. 2Line.AI is a business line with Mia, an AI receptionist who answers in your business name, books appointments and leaves you a written summary.

Who each is for

Burner is for privacy. It gives you second numbers you can delete and switch, with auto-reply, spam blocking and muting. Standard is $7.99 a month ($47.99 a year), and Premium, at $12.99 a month ($69.99 a year), adds AI voicemail transcription, a VPN and reverse number lookup. It’s a good fit when the point of the number is that you can walk away from it.

2Line.AI is for the opposite case: a number customers should be able to reach for years. It stays yours while your plan is active, and Mia answers in your business name, books appointments and leaves a slip. Instead of one general auto-reply, the caller gets a missed-call text or a “what happens next” text that matches what just happened on the call.

What a typical day looks like with each

With Burner

You’re a dog walker handing out flyers in a new neighborhood. With a Burner number on the flyer, people who call while you’re out walking can get an auto-reply, and spam calls are blocked or muted. If the flyer number starts drawing junk, you can delete it and switch to a fresh one.

With 2Line.AI

On 2Line.AI, the same caller talks to Mia, who asks about the dog, the address and which days they need, then books a first visit inside your hours. They get a confirmation and a reminder they can answer with C or R. Likely spam is labelled before it rings, and you can block a number in one tap, with undo. The flyer number stays the same, which is the point.

Choose 2Line.AI if

  • You want the line answered and jobs booked while you work
  • You want one number customers can rely on

Burner may fit better if

  • You want a number you can delete and switch for privacy
  • You want a VPN and reverse number lookup bundled (Premium)

Switching from Burner to 2Line.AI

  1. Pick a new local number in 2Line.AI from the area codes near you. Porting isn’t supported, so this is a new number, not your Burner number moved over.
  2. Set your business name, hours and caller ID name (up to 15 characters). Teach Mia from your business name or website, then call the new number from another phone to test her.
  3. Keep Burner running while you switch, so anyone who still has the old number reaches you. A month or two of overlap is a sensible minimum.
  4. Tell your customers. Text your regulars from the new number, and change the old number’s voicemail greeting to give the new one.
  5. Update your Google Business Profile (Edit profile, then Contact, then Phone number), then your website, Apple Maps, Yelp, Facebook, cards and truck.
  6. When calls to the old number have slowed to a trickle, cancel Burner.

Don’t delete the Burner number the day you switch. Keep it through the overlap, so people with your old flyers or cards still reach you. Step-by-step help for Google is in our guide to changing your Google Business Profile phone number.

What 2Line.AI doesn’t do

Worth knowing before you choose:

  • No disposable or anonymous numbers. A 2Line number is meant to stay the same, so customers can keep calling it.
  • No number porting. You get a new local US number; you can’t move an existing number in.
  • No international numbers or calling. Numbers are US only, for calling and texting US numbers.
  • Calls, texts and Mia aren’t bundled into the plan; they use credits. At zero credits they pause until you add more, and your number stays yours.
  • No 911 calls. Keep your regular phone for emergencies.

Questions

Can I switch numbers on 2Line.AI like Burner?
2Line.AI is built for a number your customers keep using. You can add more lines, each 300 credits a month.
Does 2Line.AI have auto-reply?
Yes. Missed-call text back sends the caller a text automatically, and after a call with Mia the caller gets one text about what happens next.
Does Burner have an AI receptionist?
An AI receptionist isn’t listed on Burner’s pricing page; Premium lists AI voicemail transcription. Check Burner’s site for its current features.
Does 2Line.AI block spam calls?
Yes. Likely spam is labelled before your phone rings, and you can block or unblock any number in one tap, with undo. Blocking and spam labels are free, and blocked numbers never get missed-call texts or reminders.
Is a 2Line number anonymous?
No. It’s a business line. Customers see your business number and caller ID name, not your personal number.
How much does 2Line.AI cost?
$19.99 a month, or $99.99 a year with a 3-day free trial. Every plan starts with 100 credits for calls, texts and Mia, and credit packs start at 150 credits for $4.99. Full rates are on the pricing page.
