Who each is for
Hushed is for privacy and short-term numbers. You can get US, Canadian and UK numbers, on an annual plan from $6.99 a month, prepaid plans or pay-as-you-go, and set custom voicemail greetings. It suits a number you may only want for a while, or one you’d rather keep well away from your name.
2Line.AI is for a US business number you want customers to keep using. It stays yours while your plan is active, and Mia answers in your business name, books appointments inside your hours and texts the caller what happens next. You also get missed-call texts, reminders and review requests, so the number does some of the follow-up for you.
What a typical day looks like with each
With Hushed
You sell a few pieces of furniture and post a private number on the listings. Buyers call and text it, you answer when you can, and anyone you miss hears your custom greeting. When the furniture is sold, a private, temporary number is easy to let go, and nobody ever had your real one.
With 2Line.AI
Now say furniture is your business: you refinish pieces and take commissions. On 2Line.AI, Mia answers when you’re in the workshop, asks which piece and what finish, and books a pickup inside your hours. She can text a quote from your prices, and the customer replies YES to accept. When the job is done, mark it done and 2Line can text a review request.

Switching from Hushed to 2Line.AI
- Pick a new local number in 2Line.AI from the area codes near you. Porting isn’t supported, so this is a new number, not your Hushed number moved over.
- Set your business name, hours and caller ID name (up to 15 characters). Teach Mia from your business name or website, then call the new number from another phone to test her.
- Keep Hushed running while you switch, so anyone who still has the old number reaches you. A month or two of overlap is a sensible minimum.
- Tell your customers. Text your regulars from the new number, and change the old number’s voicemail greeting to give the new one.
- Update your Google Business Profile (Edit profile, then Contact, then Phone number), then your website, Apple Maps, Yelp, Facebook, cards and truck.
- When calls to the old number have slowed to a trickle, cancel Hushed.

What 2Line.AI doesn’t do
Worth knowing before you choose:
- No international numbers or calling. Numbers are US only, for calling and texting US numbers.
- No number porting. You get a new local US number; you can’t move an existing number in.
- No disposable or anonymous numbers. A 2Line number is meant to stay the same, so customers can keep calling it.
- Calls, texts and Mia aren’t bundled into the plan; they use credits. At zero credits they pause until you add more, and your number stays yours.
- No 911 calls. Keep your regular phone for emergencies.
